Styling Product Calculator — Wax, Paste, Clay & Gel Amounts
Calculate the right amount of wax, paste, clay or gel for different hair types.
How We Calculate This
This calculator recommends styling product amounts based on product type, hair length, density and desired hold level.
The formula
Amount = Base amount x Density factor x Hold factor
- Fine hair needs ~40% less to avoid weighing down
- Thick hair needs ~40% more for even coverage
- Stronger hold needs ~30% more product
- Always start with less and build up
